Sail Away Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEF GHIJ KGL

Early in the day it was whispered that we should sail in a boatA
only thou and I and never a soul in the world would know of this ourB
pilgrimage to no country and to no endC
-
In that shoreless oceanD
at thy silently listening smile my songs would swell in melodiesE
free as waves free from all bondage of wordsF
-
Is the time not come yetG
Are there works still to doH
Lo the evening has come down upon the shoreI
and in the fading light the seabirds come flying to their nestsJ
-
Who knows when the chains will be offK
and the boat like the last glimmer of sunsetG
vanish into the nightL
