Lost Star Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABC DE FGH IIJ KL

When the creation was new and all the stars shone in their firstA
splendor the gods held their assembly in the sky and sangB
Oh the picture of perfection the joy unalloyed 'C
-
But one cried of a suddenD
It seems that somewhere there is a break in the chain of lightE
and one of the stars has been lost '-
-
The golden string of their harp snappedF
their song stopped and they cried in dismayG
Yes that lost star was the bestH
she was the glory of all heavens '-
-
From that day the search is unceasing for herI
and the cry goes on from one to the otherI
that in her the world has lost its one joyJ
-
Only in the deepest silence of night the stars smileK
and whisper among themselvesL
Vain is this seeking unbroken perfection is over all '-
