Pagan Fancies Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCC DEDEFF GHGHII JKJKLL

Blow Father Triton blow your wreathed hornA
Cheerly as is your wont and let the blastB
Circle our island on the breezes borneA
Blow while the shining hours go swiftly pastB
Rise Proteus from the cool depths rise and beC
A friend to them that breast your ancient seaC
-
I shall be there to greet you for I tireD
Of the dull meadows and the crawling streamE
Now with a heart uplifted and a fireD
I come to greet you and to catch the gleamE
Of jocund Nereids tossing in the airF
The sportive tresses of their amber hairF
-
High on a swelling upland I shall standG
Stung by the buffets of the wind borne sprayH
Or join the troops that sport upon the sandG
With shouts and laughter wearing out the dayH
Or pace apart and listen to the roarI
Of the great waves that beat the crumbling shoreI
-
Then when the children all are lapped in sleepJ
The pretty Nymphlets of the sea shall riseK
And we shall know them as they flit and creepJ
And peep and glance and murmur lullabiesK
While the pale moon comes up beyond the hillL
And Proteus rests and Triton's horn is stillL
