Fluffy, A Cat Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDDEE FFGHII JJKKHHLL MMNN NNNNNNOO

So now your tale of years is doneA
Old Fluff my friend and you have wonA
Beyond our land of mist and rainB
Your way to the Elysian plainB
Where through the shining hours of heatC
A cat may bask and lap and eatC
Where goldfish glitter in the streamsD
And mice refresh your waking dreamsD
And all in fact is planned and that'sE
Its great delight to please the catsE
-
Yet sometimes too your placid mindF
Will turn to those you've left behindF
And most to one who sheds her tearsG
The mistress of your later yearsH
Who sheds her tears to summon backI
Her faithful cat the white and blackI
-
Fluffy full well you understoodJ
The frequent joys of motherhoodJ
To lick from pointed tail to napeK
The mewing litter into shapeK
To show with pride that condescendsH
Your offspring to your human friendsH
And all our sympathy to winL
For every kit tucked snugly inL
-
In your familiar garden groundM
We've raised a tributary moundM
And passing by it we reciteN
Your merits and your praise arightN
-
Here lies we say from care releasedN
A faithful furry friendly beastN
Responsive to the lightest wordN
About these walks her purr was heardN
Love she received for much she earnedN
And much in kindness she returnedN
Wherefore her comrades go not byO
Her little grave without a sighO
