The desolate nights are reticent without you.
I covet your warm embrace and yearn to hear
your sweet, infectious laughter,
to abide in the intoxication of your eyes once more.
But when I perceive my aspirations irrevocable and I cannot find the vigour to be valient: I recollect your departing words and the hope you instilled in me.
A smile evades my face and a warmth envelops my heart. I become solemnly aware that this cross of solitude that I bear is but temporary.
It cannot compare to the eternity I will spend with you when I see you again.

Richard Paulson: What I like about this, is the view that there is more to this present life, and the sense of persevering in seeing that only eternity has that which can satisfy. It reminds me of the verse in the Authorized (King James) Bible, Romans 8:18, "For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."
