Queen Elizabeth I Poems

  • Written In Her French Psalter
No crooked leg, no bleared eye,
No part deformed out of kind,
Nor yet so ugly half can be
As is the inward suspicious mind....
  • Written With A Diamond On Her Window At Woodstock
    Much suspected by me,
    Nothing proved can be,
    Quoth Elizabeth prisoner.

  • The Doubt Of Future Foes
The doubt of future foes exiles my present joy,
    And wit me warns to shun such snares as threaten mine annoy;
For falsehood now doth flow, and subjects' faith doth ebb,
Which should not be if reason ruled or wisdom weaved the web. ...
  • On Monsieur's Departure
I grieve and dare not show my discontent,
I love and yet am forced to seem to hate,
I do, yet dare not say I ever meant,
I seem stark mute but inwardly to prate. ...
  • When I Was Fair And Young
When I was fair and young, then favor graced me.

Comments about Queen Elizabeth I

Paula80023468: i miss our queen elizabeth- all this bad behaviour, nastiness lies etc., so making the coronation focusing on guess who? this is not the legacy qe2 would want to see.. 70yrs of not putting a foot wrong-now its just a soap opera!! no hype no fun - just misery. sad really.
Angelialevy: used to think it was odd that queen elizabeth wouldn't step aside so that prince charles could be king. since her death and given charles' idiotic actions & pettiness, i can see why she didn't. charles is a 73 year-old brat, mostly due to his parents.
Andrewsp2009: linlithgow palace (scotland) where mary queen of scots was born in 1542. lochleven castle where she was held captive (1567/68) & fotheringhay castle (england) where she was beheaded on the orders of elizabeth i of england in 1587. (my old watercolour reconstructions)
Chefjohnny84: and just a side note because i’m a random factoid trivia nerd (and speak german). the british monarchy is immensely popular in de. in fact, they made up a word for queen elizabeth ii. in german, the queen is die köningen/king dear könig. for qeii, they used die queen = the queen.
Bernardnolan19: i was once more a guest of dajjal’s surgeons at queen elizabeth hospital. the doctors wanted to keep me in another day, but i negotiated a sharp exit.
