The Small Stranger At Shoprite Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis
Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDCD EFEF GHGH IJIJ KLKL MNMO PQPQ FFFF DJDJ RFRF SFTF UUOne day at a dress shop | A |
I met a man selling rings | B |
For money he wanted to swap | A |
But I really wanted some springs | B |
- | |
Got any springs asked I | C |
For that's how I'll spend my money | D |
No springs here said the guy | C |
He seemed to find it quite funny | D |
- | |
We've got some lovely frames | E |
I'll give you a very fine price | F |
I'd rather have some airframes | E |
The man blinked rapidly thrice | F |
- | |
The man seemed exceptionally impatient | G |
And his manner was strangely amused | H |
He wasn't what I would call abortifacient | G |
Great disdain he noticeably oozed | H |
- | |
Like others he thought I was odd | I |
Some say I'm a bit small | J |
Still he gave me a courteous nod | I |
As if he thought I was plenty screwball | J |
- | |
So in search of my goal I departed | K |
But before the dress shop could I leave | L |
The man came running full hearted | K |
I can help you I believe | L |
- | |
Rings springs you shall find | M |
Frames airframes you can get | N |
You must now open your mind | M |
And get down to ShopRite Market | O |
- | |
So to ShopRite Market I decided to go | P |
In search of the springs I craved | Q |
The winds it did eerily blow | P |
But I felt that the day could be saved | Q |
- | |
There were stalls selling crisps | F |
Buns in many shades | F |
There were even stalls selling lisps | F |
People were scattered from many trades | F |
- | |
I was greeted by a peculiar lady | D |
She seemed to be rather small | J |
I couldn't help thinking she might be quite shady | D |
I wondered if she was at all screwball | J |
- | |
Before I could open my mouth | R |
She shouted For you I have some springs | F |
I headed towards her to the south | R |
Past some frames and rings | F |
- | |
But how did you know I asked | S |
Do you want them or not she did say | F |
Silently the springs she passed | T |
Then vanished before I could pay | F |
- | |
As I walked away I hard a crackle | U |
Or was it perhaps a hushed cackle | U |
