To The University Of Cambridge, In New-england Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFFFFGBFFFBHBBFI JFBKLMBNBK

While an intrinsic ardor prompts to writeA
The muses promise to assist my penB
'Twas not long since I left my native shoreC
The land of errors and Egyptain gloomD
Father of mercy 'twas thy gracious handE
Brought me in safety from those dark abodesF
Students to you 'tis giv'n to scan the heightsF
Above to traverse the ethereal spaceF
And mark the systems of revolving worldsF
Still more ye sons of science ye receiveG
The blissful news by messengers from heav'nB
How Jesus' blood for your redemption flowsF
See him with hands out stretcht upon the crossF
Immense compassion in his bosom glowsF
He hears revilers nor resents their scornB
What matchless mercy in the Son of GodH
When the whole human race by sin had fall'nB
He deign'd to die that they might rise againB
And share with him in the sublimest skiesF
Life without death and glory without endI
Improve your privileges while they stayJ
Ye pupils and each hour redeem that bearsF
Or good or bad report of you to heav'nB
Let sin that baneful evil to the soulK
By you be shun'd nor once remit your guardL
Suppress the deadly serpent in its eggM
Ye blooming plants of human race divineB
An Ethiop tells you 'tis your greatest foeN
Its transient sweetness turns to endless painB
And in immense perdition sinks the soulK
