TO cultivate in ev'ry noble mindA
Habitual grace and sentiments refin'dA
Thus while you strive to mend the human heartB
Thus while the heav'nly precepts you impartB
O may each bosom catch the sacred fireC
And youthful minds to Virtue's throne aspireD
When God's eternal ways you set in sightE
And Virtue shines in all her native lightE
In vain would Vice her works in night concealF
For Wisdom's eye pervades the sable veilG
Artists may paint the sun's effulgent raysH
But Amory's pen the brighter God displaysH
While his great works in Amory's pages shineI
And while he proves his essence all divineI
The Atheist sure no more can boast aloudJ
Of chance or nature and exclude the GodK
As if the clay without the potter's aidL
Should rise in various forms and shapes self madeL
Or worlds above with orb o'er orb profoundM
Self mov'd could run the everlasting roundM
It cannot be unerring Wisdom guidesN
With eye propitious and o'er all presidesN
Still prosper Amory still may'st thou receiveO
The warmest blessings which a muse can giveP
And when this transitory state is o'erC
When kingdoms fall and fleeting Fame's no moreQ
May Amory triumph in immortal fameR
A nobler title and superior nameR
