To The King's Most Excellent Majesty Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCCDDEEFFGGHH

Your subjects hope dread SireA
The crown upon your brows may flourish longB
And that your arm may in your God be strongB
O may your sceptre num'rous nations swayC
And all with love and readiness obeyC
But how shall we the British king rewardD
Rule thou in peace our father and our lordD
Midst the remembrance of thy favours pastE
The meanest peasants most admire the lastE
May George beloved by all the nations roundF
Live with heav'ns choicest constant blessings crown'dF
Great God direct and guard him from on highG
And from his head let ev'ry evil flyG
And may each clime with equal gladness seeH
A monarch's smile can set his subjects freeH
