On The Death Of A Youn Gentleman Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABCDEFFGGHHIJKKLLME NNOO

WHO taught thee conflict with the pow'rs of nightA
To vanquish satan in the fields of lightA
Who strung thy feeble arms with might unknownB
How great thy conquest and how bright thy crownC
War with each princedom throne and pow'r is o'erD
The scene is ended to return no moreE
O could my muse thy seat on high beholdF
How deckt with laurel how enrich'd with goldF
O could she hear what praise thine harp employsG
How sweet thine anthems how divine thy joysG
What heav'nly grandeur should exalt her strainH
What holy raptures in her numbers reignH
To sooth the troubles of the mind to peaceI
To still the tumult of life's tossing seasJ
To ease the anguish of the parents heartK
What shall my sympathizing verse impartK
Where is the balm to heal so deep a woundL
Where shall a sov'reign remedy be foundL
Look gracious Spirit from thine heav'nly bow'rM
And thy full joys into their bosoms pourE
The raging tempest of their grief controlN
And spread the dawn of glory through the soulN
To eye the path the saint departed trodO
And trace him to the bosom of his GodO
