O little town of BethlehemA
How still we see thee lieB
Above thy deep and dreamless sleepC
The silent stars go byB
Yet in thy dark streets shinethD
The everlasting lightE
The hopes and fears of all the yearsF
Are met in thee to nightE
-
For Christ is born of MaryG
And gathered all aboveH
While mortals sleep the angels keepC
Their watch of wondering loveH
O morning stars togetherI
Proclaim the holy birthD
And praises sing to God the KingJ
And peace to men on earthD
-
How silently how silentlyG
The wondrous Gift is givenK
So god imparts to human heartsL
The blessings of His HeavenK
No ear may hear His comingJ
But in this world of sinM
Where meek souls will receive Him stillN
The dear Christ enters inM
-
Where children pure and happyG
Pray to the blessed ChildO
Where misery cries out to TheeG
Son of the mother mildO
Where charity stands watchingJ
And faith holds wide the doorP
The dark night wakes the glory breaksQ
And Christmas comes once moreP
-
O holy Child of BethlehemA
Descend to us we prayR
Cast out our sins and enter inM
Be born in us to dayR
We hear the Christmas angelsS
The great glad tidings tellT
O come to us abide with usU
Our Lord EmmanuelV
