The wisest scholler of the wight most wiseA
By Phoebus doom with sugred sentence sayesA
That vertue if it once met with our eyesA
Strange flames of loue it in our souls would raiseA
But for that man with paine this truth descriesA
Whiles he each thing in Senses balance wayesA
And so nor will nor can behold those skiesA
Which inward sunne to heroick mind displaiesA
Vertue of late with vertuous care to sterB
Loue of herself tooke Stellas shape that sheC
To mortall eyes might sweetly shine in herB
It is most true for since I her did seeC
Vertues great beauty in that face I proueB
And find th' effect for I do burn in loueD
