Who is it that this darke nightA
Vnderneath my window playnethB
It is one who from thy sightA
Being ah exil'd disdaynethB
Euery other vulgar lightA
-
Why alas and are you heC
Be not yet those fancies changedD
Deare when you find change in meC
Though from me you be estrangedD
Let my chaunge to ruin beC
-
Well in absence this will dyD
Leaue to see and leaue to wonderE
Absence sure will helpe if IF
Can learne how my selfe to sunderE
From what in my hart doth lyF
-
But time will these thoughts remoueC
Time doth work what no man knowethB
Time doth as the subiect proueE
With time still the affection growethB
In the faithful turtle doueD
-
What if we new beauties seeC
Will they not stir new affectionG
I will thinke they pictures beC
Image like of saints perfectionG
Poorely counterfeting theeC
-
But your reasons purest lightD
Bids you leaue such minds to nourishH
Deere do reason no such spiteD
Neuer doth thy beauty florishH
More then in my reasons sightD
-
But the wrongs Loue beares will makeI
Loue at length leaue vndertakingI
No the more fooles it doth shakeI
In a ground of so firme makingI
Deeper still they driue the stakeI
-
Peace I thinke that some giue eareE
Come no more least I get angerE
Blisse I will my blisse forbeareE
Fearing sweete you to endangerE
But my soule shall harbour thereE
-
Well be gone be gone I sayJ
Lest that Argus eyes perceiue youK
O vniust is Fortunes swayJ
Which can make me thus to leaue youK
And from lowts to run awayJ
