Once Lived In A Paradise Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

I'm the potA
Once upon a time I was found in every kitchenB
Whether for the rich or the poorC
The kitchen was usually accessible to everyoneB
I usually had a cup placed on top of meD
And anyone who was thirsty simply scooped water drank and placed the cup backE
Come to think of thisF
-
Was the cup washed before and after drinkingG
For the where It was only washed in the morning and never again until the next dayH
-
The Indomie generation will not believe thisF
That was possible because there was no Nollywood that gave people the impression that Society especially the villages were occupied by Evil men and women looking for whom to poisonB
It was a time when churchgoers were not told from the pulpitsI
That their predicaments were caused by their family members neighbors and friendsJ
I am talking of a time when it was unheard of for chalatants to brag about possessing the powers to make one rich overnightK
-
The time I am talking about was a time once upon a timeL
When uncles were known to be the best of friendsJ
-
During the holidays children were moving from one uncle and aunt to the otherM
It was always joyful seeing an uncle or an auntN
Today there is hardly any die by fire prayer without mentioning wicked unclesO
Every misfortune now is tied to either an uncle or an auntN
I am talking of a time when children played togetherM
When it was difficult even impossible to identify the children from wealthy or poor homesP
When it was extremely difficult a taskQ
To identify the orphaned and the parentedN
-
I'm talking of a time when the extended family superceded the nuclearM
Unfortunately we traded our paradise for a parasiteN

Poet's note: The life of the contemporary African today is a pity. He has given way for Western culture eat deep into his rich and unique culture...
