We sing not to the deaf the wild woods knewF
His sufferings and their echoes answerH

Our Gallus Nor where Pindus is up piledI
Nor where Parnassus' sacred mount nor whereK
Aonian Aganippe spreads itsL

The pine encircled mountain MaenalusL

Lycoris mid rude camps and Alpine snowE
With willing step pursues another there '-

The meadows with fresh streams the bees with thymeQ
The goats with the green leaves of budding springA
Are saturated not nor Love with tears '-
