The False Laurel And The True Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AAAABACDBDEDC

'What art thou Presumptuous who profanestA
The wreath to mighty poets only dueA
Even whilst like a forgotten moon thou wanestA
Touch not those leaves which for the eternal fewA
Who wander o'er the Paradise of fameB
In sacred dedication ever grewA
One of the crowd thou art without a name 'C
'Ah friend 'tis the false laurel that I wearD
Bright though it seem it is not the sameB
As that which bound Milton s immortal hairD
Its dew is poison and the hopes that quickenE
Under its chilling shade though seeming fairD
Are flowers which die almost before they sicken 'C
