Song. Hope Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGFG HIHI JKJK LMLN O

And said I that all hope was fledA
That sorrow and despair were mineB
That each enthusiast wish was deadA
Had sank beneath pale Misery s shrineB
-
Seest thou the sunbeam's yellow glowC
That robes with liquid streams of lightD
Yon distant Mountain's craggy browE
And shows the rocks so fair so brightD
-
Tis thus sweet expectation s rayF
In softer view shows distant hoursG
And portrays each succeeding dayF
As dressed in fairer brighter flowersG
-
The vermeil tinted flowers that blossomH
Are frozen but to bud anewI
Then sweet deceiver calm my bosomH
Although thy visions be not trueI
-
Yet true they are and I ll believeJ
Thy whisperings soft of love and peaceK
God never made thee to deceiveJ
'Tis sin that bade thy empire ceaseK
-
Yet though despair my life should gloomL
Though horror should around me closeM
With those I love beyond the tombL
Hope shows a balm for all my woesN
-
