Art thou indeed forever goneA
Forever ever lost to meB
Must this poor bosom beat aloneC
Or beat at all if not for theeB
Ah why was love to mortals givenD
To lift them to the height of HeavenD
Or dash them to the depths of HellE
Yet I do not reproach thee dearF
Ah no the agonies that swellE
This panting breast this frenzied brainG
Might wake my 's slumb'ring tearH
Oh Heaven is witness I did loveI
And Heaven does know I love thee stillJ
Does know the fruitless sick ning thrillJ
When reason's judgement vainly stroveK
To blot thee from my memoryB
But which might never never beB
Oh I appeal to that blest dayL
When passion's wildest ecstasyB
Was coldness to the joys I knewM
When every sorrow sunk awayL
Oh I had never lived beforeN
But now those blisses are no moreN
And now I cease to live againO
I do not blame thee love ah noP
The breast that feels this anguished woeP
Throbs for thy happiness aloneC
Two years of speechless bliss are goneA
I thank thee dearest for the dreamQ
'Tis night what faint and distant screamQ
Comes on the wild and fitful blastR
It moans for pleasures that are pastR
It moans for days that are gone byS
Oh lagging hours how slow you flyS
I see a dark and lengthened valeT
The black view closes with the tombU
But darker is the lowering gloomU
That shades the intervening daleT
In visioned slumber for awhileV
I seem again to share thy smileV
I seem to hang upon thy toneC
Again you say 'Confide in meB
For I am thine and thine aloneC
And thine must ever ever be 'W
But oh awak ning still anewM
Athwart my enanguished senses flewM
A fiercer deadlier agonyB
