Homer's Hymn To Castor And Pollux Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCAADEAAFFGHIFFF FF

Ye wild eyed Muses sing the Twins of JoveA
Whom the fair ankled Leda mixed in loveA
With mighty Saturn s Heaven obscuring ChildB
On Taygetus that lofty mountain wildB
Brought forth in joy mild Pollux void of blameC
And steed subduing Castor heirs of fameC
These are the Powers who earth born mortals saveA
And ships whose flight is swift along the waveA
When wintry tempests o er the savage seaD
Are raging and the sailors tremblinglyE
Call on the Twins of Jove with prayer and vowA
Gathered in fear upon the lofty prowA
And sacrifice with snow white lambs the windF
And the huge billow bursting close behindF
Even then beneath the weltering waters bearG
The staggering ship they suddenly appearH
On yellow wings rushing athwart the skyI
And lull the blasts in mute tranquillityF
And strew the waves on the white Ocean s bedF
Fair omen of the voyage from toil and dreadF
The sailors rest rejoicing in the sightF
And plough the quiet sea in safe delightF
