From Vergil's Tenth Eclogue Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDECEFEGHIHJKLKLK KEMNJN

Melodious Arethusa o'er my verseA
Shed thou once more the spirit of thy streamB
Who denies verse to Gallus So when thouC
Glidest beneath the green and purple gleamB
Of Syracusan waters mayst thou flowD
Unmingled with the bitter Doric dewE
Begin and whilst the goats are browsing nowC
The soft leaves in our way let us pursueE
The melancholy loves of Gallus ListF
We sing not to the dead the wild woods knewE
His sufferings and their echoesG
Young Naiads in what far woodlands wildH
Wandered ye when unworthy love possessedI
Your Gallus Not where Pindus is up piledH
Nor where Parnassus sacred mount nor whereJ
Aonian Aganippe expandsK
The laurels and the myrtle copses dimL
The pine encircled mountain MaenalusK
The cold crags of Lycaeus weep for himL
And Sylvan crowned with rustic coronalsK
Came shaking in his speed the budding wandsK
And heavy lilies which he bore we knewE
Pan the ArcadianM
N
'What madness is this Gallus Thy heart's careJ
With willing steps pursues another there 'N
