Fragment: Yes! All Is Past Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDD EFEFGHGHH DID JKJK HLM

Yes all is past swift time has fled awayA
Yet its swell pauses on my sickening mindB
How long will horror nerve this frame of clayA
I m dead and lingers yet my soul behindB
Oh powerful Fate revoke thy deadly spellC
And yet that may not ever ever beD
Heaven will not smile upon the work of HellC
Ah no for Heaven cannot smile on meD
Fate envious Fate has sealed my wayward destinyD
-
I sought the cold brink of the midnight surgeE
I sighed beneath its wave to hide my woesF
The rising tempest sung a funeral dirgeE
And on the blast a frightful yell aroseF
Wild flew the meteors o'er the maddened mainG
Wilder did grief athwart my bosom glareH
Stilled was the unearthly howling and a strainG
Swelled mid the tumult of the battling airH
'Twas like a spirit's song but yet more soft and fairH
-
I met a maniac like he was to meD
I said 'Poor victim wherefore dost thou roamI
And canst thou not contend with agonyD
That thus at midnight thou dost quit thine home '-
'Ah there she sleeps cold is her bloodless formJ
And I will go to slumber in her graveK
And then our ghosts whilst raves the maddened stormJ
Will sweep at midnight o er the wildered waveK
Wilt thou our lowly beds with tears of pity lave '-
-
'Ah no I cannot shed the pitying tearH
This breast is cold this heart can feel no moreL
But I can rest me on thy chilling bierM
Can shriek in horror to the tempest's roar '-
