Despair Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCDD EDEDFGFGG HIHIJKJKK LMLMNONPO

And canst thou mock mine agony thus calmA
In cloudless radiance Queen of silver nightB
Can you ye flow'rets spread your perfumed balmA
Mid pearly gems of dew that shine so brightB
And you wild winds thus can you sleep so stillC
Whilst throbs the tempest of my breast so highD
Can the fierce night fiends rest on yonder hillC
And in the eternal mansions of the skyD
Can the directors of the storm in powerless silence lieD
-
Hark I hear music on the zephyr s wingE
Louder it floats along the unruffled skyD
Some fairy sure has touched the viewless stringE
Now faint in distant air the murmurs dieD
Awhile it stills the tide of agonyF
Now now it loftier swells again stern woeG
Arises with the awakening melodyF
Again fierce torments such as demons knowG
In bitterer feller tide on this torn bosom flowG
-
Arise ye sightless spirits of the stormH
Ye unseen minstrels of the aereal songI
Pour the fierce tide around this lonely formH
And roll the tempest's wildest swell alongI
Dart the red lightning wing the forked flashJ
Pour from thy cloud formed hills the thunder s roarK
Arouse the whirlwind and let ocean dashJ
In fiercest tumult on the rocking shoreK
Destroy this life or let earth's fabric be no moreK
-
Yes every tie that links me here is deadL
Mysterious Fate thy mandate I obeyM
Since hope and peace and joy for aye are fledL
I come terrific power I come awayM
Then o'er this ruined soul let spirits of HellN
In triumph laughing wildly mock its painO
And though with direst pangs mine heart strings swellN
I ll echo back their deadly yells againP
Cursing the power that ne er made aught in vainO
