Rhyme Scheme: ABABCCC DEDEFGG HIHIJKJ LDLDMMM NONOLLL

Arise arise ariseA
There is blood on the earth that denies ye breadB
Be your wounds like eyesA
To weep for the dead the dead the deadB
What other grief were it just to payC
Your sons your wives your brethren were theyC
Who said they were slain on the battle dayC
-
Awaken awaken awakenD
The slave and the tyrant are twin born foesE
Be the cold chains shakenD
To the dust where your kindred repose reposeE
Their bones in the grave will start and moveF
When they hear the voices of those they loveG
Most loud in the holy combat aboveG
-
Wave wave high the bannerH
When Freedom is riding to conquest byI
Though the slaves that fan herH
Be Famine and Toil giving sigh for sighI
And ye who attend her imperial carJ
Lift not your hands in the banded warK
But in her defence whose children ye areJ
-
Glory glory gloryL
To those who have greatly suffered and doneD
Never name in storyL
Was greater than that which ye shall have wonD
Conquerors have conquered their foes aloneM
Whose revenge pride and power they have overthrownM
Ride ye more victorious over your ownM
-
Bind bind every browN
With crownals of violet ivy and pineO
Hide the blood stains nowN
With hues which sweet Nature has made divineO
Green strength azure hope and eternityL
But let not the pansy among them beL
Ye were injured and that means memoryL
