Rhyme Scheme: ABCCBDE FGHHHHH IJKKJLL IMNNOPP QRSSRTT HUVVUWW

Kiss me Miami thou most constant oneA
I love thee more for that thou changest notB
When Winter comes with frigid blastC
Or when the blithesome Spring is pastC
And Summer's here with sunshine hotB
Or in sere Autumn thou has still the pow'rD
To charm alike whate'er the hourE
-
Kiss me Miami with thy dewy lipsF
Throbs fast my heart e'en as thine own breast beatsG
My soul doth rise as rise thy wavesH
As each on each the dark shore lavesH
And breaks in ripples and retreatsH
There is a poem in thine every phaseH
Thou still has sung through all thy daysH
-
Tell me Miami how it was with theeI
When years ago Tecumseh in his primeJ
His birch boat o'er thy waters sentK
And pitched upon thy banks his tentK
In that long gone poetic timeJ
Did some bronze bard thy flowing stream sit byL
And sing thy praises e'en as IL
-
Did some bronze lover 'neath this dark old treeI
Whisper of love unto his Indian maidM
And didst thou list his murmurs deepN
And in thy bosom safely keepN
The many raging vows they saidO
Or didst thou tell to fish and frog and birdP
The raptured scenes that there occurredP
-
But O dear stream what volumes thou couldst tellQ
To all who know thy language as I doR
Of life and love and jealous hateS
But now to tattle were too lateS
Thou who hast ever been so trueR
Tell not to every passing idler hereT
All those sweet tales that reached thine earT
-
But silent stream speak out and tell me thisH
I say that men and things are still the sameU
Were men as bold to do and dareV
Were women then as true and fairV
Did poets seek celestial flameU
The hero die to gain a laureled browW
And women suffer then as nowW
