The Disturber Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCCDD EEFFGGDD HHIIJ DD KKLLMMDD

Oh what shall I do I am wholly upsetA
I am sure I 'll be jailed for a lunatic yetA
I 'll be out of a job it's the thing to expectB
When I 'm letting my duty go by with neglectB
You may judge the extent and degree of my plightC
When I 'm thinking all day and a dreaming all nightC
And a trying my hand at a rhyme on the slyD
All on account of a sparkling eyeD
-
There are those who say men should be strong well a dayE
But what constitutes strength in a man Who shall sayE
I am strong as the most when it comes to the armF
I have aye held my own on the playground or farmF
And when I 've been tempted I haven't been weakG
But now why I tremble to hear a maid speakG
I used to be bold but now I 've grown shyD
And all on account of a sparkling eyeD
-
There once was a time when my heart was devoutH
But now my religion is open to doubtH
When parson is earnestly preaching of graceI
My fancy is busy with drawing a faceI
Thro' the back of a bonnet most piously plainJ
'I draw it redraw it and draw it again '-
While the songs and the sermon unheeded go byD
All on account of a sparkling eyeD
-
Oh dear little conjurer give o'er your wilesK
It is easy for you you're all blushes and smilesK
But love of my heart I am sorely perplexedL
I am smiling one minute and sighing the nextL
And if it goes on I 'll drop hackle and flailM
And go to the parson and tell him my taleM
I warrant he 'll find me a cure for the sighD
That you 're aye bringing forth with the glance of your eyeD
