I began to see old lanterns booksA
opening folding within your eyesB
a pale light running as silverC
to the seaD
-
Then crestfallen leaves danglingE
as from fishhooks or the autumn moon'sF
skeletal lightness tossing a pathG
between waves over this sidewalk thatH
with the back streets passing occasionalI
hisses at the main culprit nightJ
-
The prim measurement of your smileK
not the wan neglect of cool skin tonesL
or fabric always more suggestiveM
of summer colours sideway movementN
of shadow into tickings of a clockO
-
Rather mist and clamminessL
lipstick in a smear as aP
thumbprint before theP
coughing of a motorcarQ
as its elliptical wedgeR
tears darknessL
away from sightJ
