Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFGHIJ KLMNOPQRAN STUVWXY ZA2B2C2D2UZE2F2 ZG2DH2I2J2K2L2YM2I evaded capture today | A |
with only a handful of dust | B |
to escape that Old Sandman Death | C |
- | |
Certainly those maroon berries | D |
so large luscious | E |
crowded on their fat stems | F |
had something to do with it | G |
as did the ground fog | H |
leaving its burrow as so many boll weevils | I |
their crowded nests | J |

And there might be something to the fact | K |
the moonlight sat | L |
fat confidant in the night sky | M |
as surely | N |
as my head rests on this pillow | O |
and the poem invites itself | P |
into my lair of thoughts | Q |
much as nestlings charge the | R |
entrance to the runway | A |
of a tree | N |
- | |
I walked flat out | S |
in an instance | T |
as standing urine | U |
held its own stench | V |
and the grim splash within the pond | W |
dead center in the wilderness | X |
underscores the tone of this warning | Y |
- | |
One thought encapsulates wonder | Z |
though suggestive evil hides | A2 |
leaden leaves buried in lake mud | B2 |
down the corner eaves of someone's | C2 |
fire hydrant mind | D2 |
When you pray for someone | U |
an Angel sits on their shoulder | Z |
when that same someone hates you | E2 |
does that Angel die of grief | F2 |
- | |
Serendipity is a flower | Z |
and those clouds | G2 |
re arranging the breeze | D |
harbingers of forbidden things | H2 |
not so much like these boulders | I2 |
use hand held scissors to open twilight | J2 |
and watch this fading light ebb forth | K2 |
tip I toe like a bird | L2 |
squeezed thru an opening | Y |
in its cage | M2 |
