Rhyme Scheme: ABC DEFGHIJ KLMNOPQRAN STUVWXY ZA2B2C2D2UZE2F2 ZG2DH2I2J2K2L2YM2

I evaded capture todayA
with only a handful of dustB
to escape that Old Sandman DeathC
-
Certainly those maroon berriesD
so large lusciousE
crowded on their fat stemsF
had something to do with itG
as did the ground fogH
leaving its burrow as so many boll weevilsI
their crowded nestsJ
-
And there might be something to the factK
the moonlight satL
fat confidant in the night skyM
as surelyN
as my head rests on this pillowO
and the poem invites itselfP
into my lair of thoughtsQ
much as nestlings charge theR
entrance to the runwayA
of a treeN
-
I walked flat outS
in an instanceT
as standing urineU
held its own stenchV
and the grim splash within the pondW
dead center in the wildernessX
underscores the tone of this warningY
-
One thought encapsulates wonderZ
though suggestive evil hidesA2
leaden leaves buried in lake mudB2
down the corner eaves of someone'sC2
fire hydrant mindD2
When you pray for someoneU
an Angel sits on their shoulderZ
when that same someone hates youE2
does that Angel die of griefF2
-
Serendipity is a flowerZ
and those cloudsG2
re arranging the breezeD
harbingers of forbidden thingsH2
not so much like these bouldersI2
use hand held scissors to open twilightJ2
and watch this fading light ebb forthK2
tip I toe like a birdL2
squeezed thru an openingY
in its cageM2
