To Hilda Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: A BCCBBCCB DEDEFG H

ON HER SEVENTEENTH BIRTHDAYA
-
-
Now has rich time brought you a gift of goldB
A long sweet year which you can shape at willC
And deck with roses warm or with the chillC
And heartless lilies GOD gives strength to mouldB
Our days and lives with fingers firm and boldB
And make them noble straight and clean from illC
Though few are willing and their years they fillC
With dross which they regret when they are oldB
-
What splendid hours of your life are theseD
When youth and childhood wander hand in handE
And give you freely all which best can pleaseD
Laughter and friends and dreams of FairylandE
Mourn not the seasons past with useless tearsF
But greet the pleasure of the coming yearsG
