Fellowship With Christ Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EFEFGHGH IJIJFKFK

To pray as Jesus prayedA
When faithless brethren sleepB
To weep the ruin sin has madeA
The only ones that weepB
To bear the heavy crossC
To toil yet murmur notD
To suffer pain reproach and lossC
Be such our earthly lotD
-
Yet oh how richly blestE
The Master's cup to shareF
The aching grief that wrung His breastE
His broken hearted prayerF
If thus we may but gainG
One sheaf of golden wheatH
Gleaned from Earth's sultry harvest plainG
To lay at His dear feetH
-
If thus we may but winI
One precious earthly gemJ
Snatched from the mire of vice and sinI
For His rich diademJ
Here sorrow patience prayerF
In Heaven the rich rewardK
Here the sharp thorns the cross and thereF
Forever with the LordK
