I THE TREESA
THERE is no glory of the sunset hereB
Heavy the clouds upon the darkening roadC
And heavy too the wind upon the treesA
The trees sway making moanD
Continuous like breaking seasA
impotent bare thingsE
You give at last the very cry of earthF
I walk this darkening road in solemn moodG
Within deep hell came Dante to a woodH
Like him I marvel at the crying treesA

II THE STARI
A mighty star anear has drawn and nowJ
Is vibrant on the airK
-
The half divested trembling trees of hisL
Bright presence are awareK
-
Below within the stream I him beholdM
Between the marge and mainN
-
My bone and flesh what dust they'll be when heO
That star dips here againP

III THE CAPTIVE ARCHERQ
To morrow I will bend the bowJ
My soul shall have her mark againP
My bosom feel the archer's strainN
No longer pacing to and froR
With idle hands and listless brainN
-
As goes the arrow forth I goR
My soul shall have her mark againP
My bosom feel the archer's strainN
To morrow I will bend the bowJ

IV TRIUMPHATORSL
The drivers in the sunset raceL
Their coal carts over cobble stonesL
Not draymen but tnumphatorsL
Their bags are left with Smith and JonesL
They let the horses take their strideS
Which toss their forelocks in their prideS
-
Not blue nor green these factions wearK
Which make career o'er Dublin stonesL
But Pluto his own liveryO
Is what each whip carrier ownsL
The Caesar of the cab rank IT
Salute the triumph speeding byT
