The Tin-whistle Player Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB BDBD BEFG BHIH EJKJLJ

'Tis long since long since since I heardA
A tin whistle playedB
And heard the tunes the ha'penny tunesC
That nobody madeB
-
The tunes that were before CendfindB
And Cir went Ireland's roundsD
That were before the suretyB
That strings have given soundsD
-
And now is standing in the mistB
And jigging backward thereE
Shrilling with fingers and with breathF
A tin whistle playerG
-
He has hare's eyes a long face rimmedB
Around with badger greyH
Aimless like cries of mountain birdsI
The tunes he has to playH
-
The tunes that are for stretches bareE
And men whose lives are loneJ
And I had seen that face of hisK
Sculptured on cross of stoneJ
That long face in a place of gravesL
With nettles overgrownJ
