The Poor Girl's Meditation Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCBDEFE GHEIJKLK MNONPQRQ STUTVIPI

I AM sitting hereA
Since the moon rose in the nightB
Kindling a fireC
And striving to keep it alightB
The folk of the house are lyingD
In slumber deepE
The geese will be gabbling soonF
The whole of the land is asleepE
-
May I never leave this worldG
Until my ill luck is goneH
Till I have cows and sheepE
And the lad that I love for my ownI
I would not think it longJ
The night I would lie at his breastK
And the daughters of spite after thatL
Might say the thing they liked bestK
-
Love takes the place of hateM
If a girl have beauty at allN
On a bed that was narrow and highO
A three month I lay by the wallN
When I bethought on the ladP
That I left on the brow of the hillQ
I wept from dark until darkR
And my cheeks have the tear tracks stillQ
-
And O young lad that I loveS
I am no mark for your scornT
All you can say of me isU
Undowered I was bornT
And if I've no fortune in handV
Nor cattle and sheep of my ownI
This I can say O ladP
I am fitted to lie my loneI
