An Old Woman Of The Roads Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCB DEFE GHIH JFKF LMNO PGQG

O to have a little houseA
To own the hearth and stool and allB
The heaped up sods against the fireC
The pile of turf against the wallB
-
To have a clock with weights and chainsD
And pendulum swinging up and downE
A dresser filled with shining delphF
Speckled and white and blue and brownE
-
I could be busy all the dayG
Clearing and sweeping hearth and floorH
And fixing on their shelf againI
My white and blue and speckled storeH
-
I could be quiet there at nightJ
Beside the fire and by myselfF
Sure of a bed and loth to leaveK
The ticking clock and the shining delphF
-
Och but I'm weary of mist and darkL
And roads where there's never a house nor bushM
And tired I am of bog and roadN
And the crying wind and the lonesome hushO
-
And I am praying to God on highP
And I am praying Him night and dayG
For a little house a house of my ownQ
Out of the wind's and the rain's wayG
