Rhyme Scheme: A BBCB DEBE BFGF HEIE

FROM THE IRISHA
-
I d bring you these for dowryB
A field from heather freeB
White sheep upon the mountainC
And calves that follow meB
-
I saw you by the well sideD
Upon Saint Finnian's DayE
I thought you'd come and ask for meB
But you kept far awayE
-
Oh if you ask not for meB
But leave me here insteadF
The petticoat in dye pot hereG
Will never fast its redF
-
For me upon the well slopeH
To wear on Finnian's DayE
My dress will be the sheet bleached thereI
My place below the clayE
