The tree is here still in pure stoneA
in deep evidence in solid beautyB
layered through a hundred million yearsC
Agate cornelian gemstoneA
transmuted the timber and sapD
until damp corruptionsE
fissured the giant's trunkF
fusing a parallel beingG
the living leavesH
unmade themselvesI
and when the pillar was overthrownA
fire in the forest blaze of the dust cloudJ
celestial ashes mantled it roundK
until time and the lava createdL
this gift of translucent stoneA
