Bird Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFDGH IJKLMNOPQRSTUAAD

It was passed from one bird to anotherA
the whole gift of the dayB
The day went from flute to fluteC
went dressed in vegetationD
in flights which opened a tunnelE
through the wind would passF
to where birds were breaking openD
the dense blue airG
and there night came inH
-
When I returned from so many journeysI
I stayed suspended and greenJ
between sun and geographyK
I saw how wings workedL
how perfumes are transmittedM
by feathery telegraphN
and from above I saw the pathO
the springs and the roof tilesP
the fishermen at their tradesQ
the trousers of the foamR
I saw it all from my green skyS
I had no more alphabetT
than the swallows in their coursesU
the tiny shining waterA
of the small bird on fireA
which dances out of the pollenD
