In Petersburg We'll Meet Again Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCDEFGH IJKLGMED GNOPQRST UTCVWFGS

In Petersburg we'll meet againA
As though we'd buried the sun thereB
And for the first time utterC
The blessed senseless wordD
In the black velvet of Soviet nightE
In the velvet of worldwide emptinessF
The kind eyes of touched women still singG
The immortal flowers still bloomH
-
-
-
The capitol arches like a wildcatI
A patrol is standing on the bridgeJ
A single angry motor speeds by in the darkK
And cries out like a cuckooL
I do not need a pass for the eveningG
I am not afraid of the sentriesM
I will pray in the Soviet nightE
For the blessed and senseless wordD
-
-
-
I hear the theater's light rustlingG
And a young girl's 'Oh'N
In Kypris'arms a huge bunchO
Of immortal rosesP
Out of boredom we warm ourselvesQ
By a bonfire Perhaps centuries will passR
And the kind hands of touched womenS
Will gather up the light ashesT
-
-
-
Somewhere the red rows of the galleryU
The sumptuous chiffon of the boxesT
The clockwork puppet of the officerC
Not for black souls or vile hypocritesV
Right Put out please our candlesW
In the black velvet of worldwide emptinessF
The sloped shoulders of blessed women still singG
But you won't notice the night sunS
