I Had Not Tried The Wine That Ancients Made Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAB CDED FGHI JKJK

I had not tried the wine that ancients madeA
And had not heard of Ossian s old tuneB
So why on earth I seem to see the gladeA
And in the skies the bloody Scottish moonB
-
And the call over of a raven with a harpC
I faintly hear in that silence full of frightD
And spread by winds the winter woolen scarvesE
Of knights are flashing in the red moonlightD
-
I had received the blessing to inheritF
Another singer s ever rambling dreamsG
For kin s and neighbor s spiritual meritsH
To have despise we re absolutely freeI
-
And not a lone treasure I supposeJ
Will pass grandchildren and to others flingK
Again a scald will ancient songs composeJ
And as his own will again them singK
