Serenade Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABABCDCD EAEAFGFG HAHAIJIJ HJHJFKFK HLHLFKFK

THE western wind is blowing fairA
Across the dark gean seaB
And at the secret marble stairA
My Tyrian galley waits for theeB
Come down the purple sail is spreadC
The watchman sleeps within the townD
O leave thy lily flowered bedC
O Lady mine come down come downD
-
She will not come I know her wellE
Of lover's vows she hath no careA
And little good a man can tellE
Of one so cruel and so fairA
True love is but a woman's toyF
They never know the lover's painG
And I who loved as loves a boyF
Must love in vain must love in vainG
-
O noble pilot tell me trueH
Is that the sheen of golden hairA
Or is it but the tangled dewH
That binds the passion flowers thereA
Good sailor come and tell me nowI
Is that my Lady's lily handJ
Or is it but the gleaming prowI
Or is it but the silver sandJ
-
No no 'tis not the tangled dewH
'Tis not the silver fretted sandJ
It is my own dear Lady trueH
With golden hair and lily handJ
O noble pilot steer for TroyF
Good sailor ply the labouring oarK
This is the Queen of life and joyF
Whom we must bear from Grecian shoreK
-
The waning sky grows faint and blueH
It wants an hour still of dayL
Aboard aboard my gallant crewH
O Lady mine away awayL
O noble pilot steer for TroyF
Good sailor ply the labouring oarK
O loved as only loves a boyF
O loved for ever evermoreK
