San Miniato Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBA CDDC EFFG HIIH

See I have climbed the mountain sideA
Up to this holy house of GodB
Where once that Angel Painter trodB
Who saw the heavens opened wideA
-
And throned upon the crescent moonC
The Virginal white Queen of GraceD
Mary could I but see thy faceD
Death could not come at all too soonC
-
O crowned by God with thorns and painE
Mother of Christ O mystic wifeF
My heart is weary of this lifeF
And over sad to sing againG
-
O crowned by God with love and flameH
O crowned by Christ the Holy OneI
O listen ere the searching sunI
Show to the world my sin and shameH
