Libertatis Sacra Fames Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCAADDAEFEGGF

Albeit nurtured in democracyA
And liking best that state republicanB
Where every man is Kinglike and no manC
Is crowned above his fellows yet I seeA
Spite of this modern fret for LibertyA
Better the rule of One whom all obeyD
Than to let clamorous demagogues betrayD
Our freedom with the kiss of anarchyA
Wherefore I love them not whose hands profaneE
Plant the red flag upon the piled up streetF
For no right cause beneath whose ignorant reignE
Arts Culture Reverence Honour all things fadeG
Save Treason and the dagger of her tradeG
Or Murder with his silent bloody feetF
