Italia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEEDC

Italia thou art fallen though with sheenA
Of battle spears thy clamorous armies strideB
From the north Alps to the Sicilian tideB
Ay fallen though the nations hail thee QueenA
Because rich gold in every town is seenA
And on thy sapphire lake in tossing prideB
Of wind filled vans thy myriad galleys rideB
Beneath one flag of red and white and greenA
O Fair and Strong O Strong and Fair in vainC
Look southward where Rome's desecrated townD
Lies mourning for her God anointed KingE
Look heaven ward shall God allow this thingE
Nay but some flame girt Raphael shall come downD
And smite the Spoiler with the sword of painC
