Holy Week At Genoa Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBAABBACDEFDC

I wandered through Scoglietto's far retreatA
The oranges on each o'erhanging sprayB
Burned as bright lamps of gold to shame the dayB
Some startled bird with fluttering wings and fleetA
Made snow of all the blossoms at my feetA
Like silver moons the pale narcissi layB
And the curved waves that streaked the great green bayB
Laughed i' the sun and life seemed very sweetA
Outside the young boy priest passed singing clearC
'Jesus the son of Mary has been slainD
O come and fill His sepulchre with flowers 'E
Ah God Ah God those dear Hellenic hoursF
Had drowned all memory of Thy bitter painD
The Cross the Crown the Soldiers and the SpearC
