Ava Maria Plena Gratia Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCADDAEFGEFG

WAS this His coming I had hoped to seeA
A scene of wondrous glory as was toldB
Of some great God who in a rain of goldB
Broke open bars and fell on DanaeC
Or a dread vision as when SemeleA
Sickening for love and unappeased desireD
Prayed to see God's clear body and the fireD
Caught her white limbs and slew her utterlyA
With such glad dreams I sought this holy placeE
And now with wondering eyes and heart I standF
Before this supreme mystery of LoveG
A kneeling girl with passionless pale faceE
An angel with a lily in his handF
And over both with outstretched wings the DoveG
