Amor Intellectualis Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBCDEECFGGHGH

Oft have we trod the vales of CastalyA
And heard sweet notes of sylvan music blownB
From antique reeds to common folk unknownB
And often launched our bark upon that seaC
Which the nine Muses hold in emperyD
And ploughed free furrows through the wave and foamE
Nor spread reluctant sail for more safe homeE
Till we had freighted well our argosyC
Of which despoiled treasures these remainF
Sordello's passion and the honeyed lineG
Of young Endymion lordly TamburlaineG
Driving his pampered jades and more than theseH
The seven fold vision of the FlorentineG
And grave browed Milton's solemn harmoniesH
