To The Teachers Of America Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: AABBCDDC DDEEFDDF DDDDGBBG

TEACHERS of teachers Yours the taskA
Noblest that noble minds can askA
High up Aonia's murmurous mountB
To watch to guard the sacred fountB
That feeds the streams belowC
To guide the hurrying flood that fillsD
A thousand silvery rippling rillsD
In ever widening flowC
-
Rich is the harvest from the fieldsD
That bounteous Nature kindly yieldsD
But fairer growths enrich the soilE
Ploughed deep by thought's unwearied toilE
In Learning's broad domainF
And where the leaves the flowers the fruitsD
Without your watering at the rootsD
To fill each branching veinF
-
Welcome the Author's firmest friendsD
Your voice the surest Godspeed lendsD
Of you the growing mind demandsD
The patient care the guiding handsD
Through all the mists of mornG
And knowing well the future's needB
Your prescient wisdom sows the seedB
To flower in years unbornG
