The Rose And The Fern Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABAAB CDCC EFEEF

LADY life's sweetest lesson wouldst thou learnA
Come thou with me to Love's enchanted bowerB
High overhead the trellised roses burnA
Beneath thy feet behold the feathery fernA
A leaf without a flowerB
-
What though the rose leaves fall They still are sweetC
And have been lovely in their beauteous primeD
While the bare frond seems ever to repeatC
'For us no bud no blossom wakes to greetC
The joyous flowering time '-
-
Heed thou the lesson Life has leaves to treadE
And flowers to cherish summer round thee glowsF
Wait not till autumn's fading robes are shedE
But while its petals still are burning redE
Gather life's full blown roseF
