The Height Of The Ridiculous Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABCD EFCF GHIH JCKC LMNM OPQP RSTS FUVU

I WROTE some lines once on a timeA
In wondrous merry moodB
And thought as usual men would sayC
They were exceeding goodD
-
They were so queer so very queerE
I laughed as I would dieF
Albeit in the general wayC
A sober man am IF
-
I called my servant and he cameG
How kind it was of himH
To mind a slender man like meI
He of the mighty limbH
-
These to the printer I exclaimedJ
And in my humorous wayC
I added as a trifling jestK
There'll be the devil to payC
-
He took the paper and I watchedL
And saw him peep withinM
At the first line he read his faceN
Was all upon the grinM
-
He read the next the grin grew broadO
And shot from ear to earP
He read the third a chuckling noiseQ
I now began to hearP
-
The fourth he broke into a roarR
The fifth his waistband splitS
The sixth he burst five buttons offT
And tumbled in a fitS
-
Ten days and nights with sleepless eyeF
I watched that wretched manU
And since I never dare to writeV
As funny as I canU
