Tartarus Poem Rhyme Scheme and Analysis

Rhyme Scheme: ABBBCCBB DDBBEEFF GGHHIIJJ BBIIGGKK

While in my simple gospel creedA
That God is Love so plain I readB
Shall dreams of heathen birth affrightB
My pathway through the coming nightB
Ah Lord of life though spectres paleC
Fill with their threats the shadowy valeC
With Thee my faltering steps to aidB
How can I dare to be afraidB
-
Shall mouldering page or fading scrollD
Outface the charter of the soulD
Shall priesthood's palsied arm protectB
The wrong our human hearts rejectB
And smite the lips whose shuddering cryE
Proclaims a cruel creed a lieE
The wizard's rope we disallowF
Was justice once is murder nowF
-
Is there a world of blank despairG
And dwells the Omnipresent thereG
Does He behold with smile sereneH
The shows of that unending sceneH
Where sleepless hopeless anguish liesI
And ever dying never diesI
Say does He hear the sufferer's groanJ
And is that child of wrath his ownJ
-
O mortal wavering in thy trustB
Lift thy pale forehead from the dustB
The mists that cloud thy darkened eyesI
Fade ere they reach the o'erarching skiesI
When the blind heralds of despairG
Would bid thee doubt a Father's careG
Look up from earth and read aboveK
On heaven's blue tablet GOD IS LOVEK
